Description
Francesca D’Amico obtained her Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology in 2018 by the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. During her thesis, she focused on peptide-based design and synthesis. She moved to Utrecht, the Netherlands for an internship in NMR spectroscopy, performing high-resolution studies of peptide-antibiotics obtained by recombinant DNA chemistry. In September 2019, she became part of the TRIM-NET, carrying out her PhD research in chemical biology under the supervision of Huib Ovaa at the LUMC, the Netherlands.
Francesca’s project deals with the design and synthesis of small molecules or peptide-based compounds that interfere with critical binding areas and modulate TRIM-substrate interactions. She will be working on the development of TRIM screening strategies towards a high throughput screening setup with the ultimate goal of finding inhibitors for this class of ligases.
